The Past And Its Tales

The Fear That I Won Over

Those were the mid days of the may month in the year 2015. Hot sun running over your head. Hot enough that it heats you up like a Freshly Ironed cloth. I have completed the 1st year of my graduation examinations and it was time to attend my orientation classes. And I was selected for the slot of a hot noon session for a month starting from the mid-days of May to mid-June. I daily travel to college by bike. Those were the days of Samaikya Andhra Strikes. We being from the Coastal part of Andhra Pradesh were against the division of the state. travel. All the roads were jammed, the bus service was on strike and the routes were blocked on all their ways to work. People came on roads for justice. We students faced great trouble to travel. And so, I was given a bike to get rid of this trouble to attend my college daily. I was a new learner and I had tiny wounds on my elbows, knees usually as I fall off my bike.

And it was past to the two months of May, i.e., in February I was returning home from my college, it was around 6.30 pm in the evening that I met with an accident. I had a major injury on the upper part of my right cheek very near to my eye. And have minor injuries on my knees and elbows, I had a severe ache on my right ribs. I was asked to put on my dad’s number on their mobile. I was in shock for a while and didn’t remember when I put on the number. I was taken to the hospital for the proper aid with my dad and uncle. I returned home had some food, medicine, and went to sleep. I was so terrified by the accident that I woke up with the nightmare of falling on the road and a truck running on the road towards me, all the time I fall asleep. I was so terrified that this repeated five times that night. I was worried about my exams running nearer within two months and I, unfortunately, have to take a leave to get well. I somehow got recovered and attended my examinations. I was dropped by my dad at the examination center. I was so terrified of the incident that I didn’t even try to get my bike into the traffic.

The time came, that I need to attend my orientation program and I found out my token with the entry number was missing, I won’t be allowed in. Unless I carry my token number or any receipt of payment that I made to attend the orientation program. I requested my dad to come with me and recommend letting me in and providing my number from their data list. I convinced my dad, but my dad has some work and won’t pick me up back home. And so, I decided to pick my keys up following my dad to the orientation center. I suddenly realized myself to be driving my bike in the traffic and shouted out,” Dad, did you see, I am driving back, I forgot the fear to drive in heavy traffic over my worry of missing my token.” He smiled at me saying, “You just can’t sit back holding your fears, a time arrives where you need to face and overcome your fears.”

This is my tale of overcoming my fear.

Note; drive safe, wear helmets, don’t be in a hurry, start early, be on time.
